TimberCreek B&B Saga Could Be Coming to an End

Jul 13, 2021 | 4:26 PM

The decade long saga of the TimberCreek Bed and Breakfast west of Paxton may be finally coming to an end.  In 2016, the Illinois Human Rights Commission ruled the B&B did violate the rights of a gay couple when they refused to allow a civil ceremony at the business.  The commission ordered the owners to make restitution.  When the owners refused the state took the case to the courts where it’s been ever since.  Monday, a Ford County judge ordered TimberCreek owners to turn over the title to the business within 14 days so it can be sold to satisfy a state order to pay 81,218 dollars in penalties for discrimination.  TimberCreek owners say allowing the 2011 ceremony would have violated their religious beliefs.
