Kankakee Fire Battled Early Morning Blaze

There was a fire in the 500 block of South May in the City of Kankakee early this morning. Kankakee City Fire Department personnel were called to the home just after four this morning where the blaze was found in an attached garage. The elderly couple living in the home was displaced by the fire which caused 30-40-thousand dollars in damage. While those living in the home got out safely, one firefighter reportedly sustained minor burns that didn’t require medical attention. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it’s thought to have started in a wall heater in the garage.
