An inmate at the Jerome Combs Detention Center in Kankakee was inadvertently released Thursday afternoon because of a bond mix-up. Kankakee County Sheriffs police say 29 year old Ernest S. Cooley of Chicago was released after he posted thousand dollars or 10 percent of a 10,000 dollar bond. The problem was his bond was actually set at 100,000 dollars and needed 10,000 dollars to be released. The smaller bond was on a different prisoner. Coolley was not free for long, he was returned to the detention center by his mother who lives in Kankakee. County officials say they will look into what went wrong and make the proper changes where needed. Coolley is charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13.
