The awards dinner for the 2021 Kankakee River Valley Fishing Derby was held last night at the Bradley-Bourbonnais Sportsman’s Club. Ken Munjoy with the Northern Illinois Anglers Association said it was nice to get together again
Bob Tolmer was this year’s big winner in the Derby, taking home the boat, motor and trailer sponsored by NECA/IBEW local 176. This was the 38th year for the derby. Munjoy adds there’ll be a clean the river event coming up the third weekend in September and the Association will be looking for volunteers to help clean up the river that weekend. Each year some 20 to 30 tons of garbage is pulled from the Kankakee River on that clean-up weekend.
