A traffic stop last night netted Kankakee County Sheriff’s Police a gun arrest. According to reports, it was just after 8:30 Tuesday night when deputies stopped a car on 45-hundred South Road near 16-thousand East for a traffic violation. Reports say as they approached the car, deputies saw the front seat passenger, later identified as 18-year-old Jose Rojas of Kankakee put something in his waistband. When asked what it was Rojas allegedly told deputies “nothing”, but when he moved his arm deputies say they could see a handgun and magazine sticking out of his waistband. Deputies asked Rojas to get out of the car and he was taken into custody. Rojas allegedly told officers he’d found the gun earlier in the day while riding horses in Pembroke Township. County Deputies arrested Rojas for gun unlawful use of a weapon.
