Timber Creek Saga Going to U.S. Supreme Court

Aug 3, 2021 | 5:35 PM

The decade long saga of the Timber Creek Bed and Breakfast near Paxton is going all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.   The owners have been ordered by the Illinois Human Rights commission to pay over 81,000 dollars in damages for refusing to allow a civil marriage ceremony for a gay couple in 2011,  claiming to do so would have violated their religious beliefs.  Last week a state appellate court and the Illinois Supreme Court rejected the appeal and ordered sale of the business to satisfy the ruling.  Lawyers for Timber Creek tell the Ford County Chronicle they plan to file an appeal with the highest court in the land next week.
