Illinois State Police report the arrest of a Kankakee man for allegedly taking a poke at a trooper. State Police reports say it was just after 8:30 last night, the trooper responded to assist Kankakee City Police with a Retail Theft. Reports say 52-year-old Eric D. Johnson of Kankakee was taken into custody at East Hickory Street and South Schuyler Avenue after a brief chase. During the arrest, Johnson allegedly became combative and struck the Trooper. Johnson was taken to the Jerome Combs Detention Center, charged with Retail Theft, Obstructing Identification, Resisting a Peace Officer, and Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer.
