Masks Will Be Worn in Bradley Schools

Aug 16, 2021 | 7:59 AM

Students in Bradley Elementary District 61 Schools will be masking up.  The School Board last night approved a measure adopting the state mandated indoor mask requirement for kids in kindergarten through high school.   Even though a poll taken by the district showed 332 out of 504 parents wanted to see masks optional, district officials say they have no choice.  The Daily Journal reports that in a letter to superintendents around the state, State Superintendent Carmen Ayala confirmed that last week’s executive order has the force of law.   Refusal to obey could mean the total loss of state funding and a ban on athletic competitions.  Masks will be available to children who don’t have one and if a child refuses to wear the face covering they will be isolated from other students and then sent home with a parent or guardian.
