Kankakee City Police report the arrest of a woman for aggravated battery to a police officer. According to reports, just after six last night, officers were called to the 700 block of South Nelson Avenue for a report of someone banging on a window with a mop or broom handle. When they got there, officers say they found 18-year-old Avery Watson swinging a broom handle. Reports say Watson continued to swing the handle at officers, then allegedly hit officers with her fists once the broom handle was taken away from her. Officers say Watson continued to resist arrest once she was handcuffed at one point slipping the cuffs and running away. Watson was taken to the Jerome Combs Detention Center, charged with two counts of resisting arrest and two counts of aggravated battery to a police officer.
