Shots Fired in Kankakee Ends with the Arrest of a Hoosier

Kankakee City Police report an arrest following a report of shots fired late last night. According to reports, it was just after 11 last night officers were called to the 100 block of North Rosewood Avenue for shots fired. When they got there, officers say they spoke with 30-year-old Jasmine Bately who allegedly told police she’d “shot one round into the air”. Bately reportedly went on to tell police she’d gotten into an argument with her brother and went into her apartment to get the gun and shoot a round in the air to “scare him”. Bately reportedly showed officers the gun and her valid Indiana concealed carry license. City Police arrested Bately for reckless discharge of a firearm.
