Illinois State Police in Ashkum have released the results of the Distracted Driving Enforcement Program patrols held in Kankakee, Ford and Iroquois Counties yesterday. The special patrols resulted in 32 tickets handed out and 21 written warnings. Of those tickets written, 12 were for hand-held phone violations, two for texting and driving. Troopers say the extra patrols allow them to focus on reducing serious crashes by enforcing distracted driving laws and are paid for through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
