A Kankakee 6 Month Old Baby Found Unresponsive, Dies

No charges have yet been filed against a mother whose 6 month old daughter was found unresponsive on a mattress last night at a home in the 800 block of West Wilson Drive in Kankakee.  City police say when officers arrived they found the mother performing cpr on the girl at the intersection of 5^th Ave and West Wilson.  Officers took over the cpr until an ambulance arrived and transported her to St. Marys, but the Kankakee County Coroner’s office says baby later died.  The mother tells police she left the girl unattended in a bedroom for about 10 minutes and when she returned she found the child face down between the corner of a full size mattress that was on the floor, and the wall of the bedroom.
