Kankakee August Jobless Rate Ticks Up from July

The Kankakee County unemployment rate for August increased from July, but is still way below the mid-pandemic rate of last year.  The Illinois Department of Employment Security pegs the August jobless rate at 6.7 percent. That’s up from July’s 6.1 percent, but much lower than the 9 percent of a year ago.  Moline, Illinois has the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 5.1 percent, Rockford has the highest at 8.3 percent
