Kankakee City Police report an arrest Tuesday morning after a man was allegedly seen breaking into cars in the 400 block of South Third Avenue. Reports say it was just before 8:30 Tuesday morning when officers were called by witnesses who allegedly told police they’d seen 20-year-old Maurice A. Boyd Junior breaking into cars in the area. One of the witnesses told officers they’d confronted Boyd who took off running and jumped a fence, but they’d seen him hide some of the allegedly stolen items in bushes behind a house in the 400 block of South Fifth. When officers went to confront Boyd about the accusations, he allegedly took off running, but was eventually taken into custody after a short struggle with police. Boyd was taken to the Jerome Combs Detention Center, charged with drug and weapons charges as well as aggravated battery to a police officer and resisting arrest.
