At this week’s Grundy County Board meeting, County Sheriff Ken Briley gave board members more details on the shooting of Deputy Tyler Post last week in Mazon. An 18 year old Joliet man was arrested a short time later in an apartment also suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm after a traffic stop led to a police chase and shots being fired. Post was struck three times. Two of the rounds were stopped by his bullet proof vest, but one struck the officer in the forearm. Briley said that two brave citizens in the area at the time of the shooting rushed to the Deputy’s assistance to help the officer put compression on his bleeding arm. Briley told the board it was an all hands on deck moment. After the call for assistance went out some 40 police departments and 200 officers showed up to help. DeMarcus Dinwiddie is being held on attempted murder and weapons charges. His bond has been set at 10 Million dollars.
