Several local law enforcement agencies have the “we’re hiring” sign in the window. The City of Kankakee is no exception. Kankakee Police Chief Robin Passwater says his department is about 11 officers short of being fully staffed
Passwater says the department has lost several officers over the last three to five years and adds retirements have a lot to do with it
Passwater says if you’d like to apply you can find out more on the City of Kankakee website or facebook page. Applications close Wednesday with testing starting November 13th with interviews after that. Kankakee Police is looking to hire at least 10 new officers and the chief said starting pay will be in the mid-50-thousand-dollar a year range
