The Newton County Indiana Sheriff’s Police report a car chase Tuesday ended with a car in the Iroquois River. According to reports, the chase started Tuesday afternoon when Newton County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Newton County Drug Task Force agents and Morocco Police were involved in chasing a car through Beaver and Washington Townships. That car was later found crashed in the Iroquois River at the Indiana/Illinois state line. Dive teams were called in and determined no one was left inside the car. A helicopter helped search the area but did not find the suspect. He’s described as a white man, about five-nine with a stocky build and short shaved hair. While authorities don’t think he’s a threat to anyone in the immediate area they do ask those living near the incident call 9-1-1 if you see something suspicious.
