Murder Conviction Upheld

A man convicted in a Kankakee County Courtroom for the 2014 murder of Sarah Washington has had his murder conviction upheld on appeal. Rex Frank was found guilty of Washington’s murder by a jury in March of 2019 and had appealed his conviction because the judge allowed the State to present proof of “other crimes”. On his Facebook page, Kankakee County State’s Attorney Jim Rowe said that “other crime” was the July 2014 murder of Rion Maiden in Sun River Terrace which was connected to the Washington murder. The appellate court agreed with the judge’s assessment that the evidence should have been allowed.
