Unemployment Falls Again in Kankakee County

Unemployment fell for the 7^th consecutive month in Kankakee and across the state in October.  The Illinois Department of Employment Security puts the jobless rate locally at 5 percent, down from the 6.5 percent in October of last year and lower than last month’s 5.5 percent unemployment rate.   The lowest unemployment rate in the state is in the Champaign Urbana area, the highest is in Rockford where the jobless rate is at 7.1 percent.  IDES says 1,200 jobs have been added to the Kankakee economy in the last year.
