Jasper County Indiana Sheriff’s Police believe they’ve identified the remains of a body, 40 years after the man died at the hands of a serial killer. In a press conference Thursday night, deputies identified the remains as those of 19-year-old William Joseph “Bill” Lewis of Peru Indiana, whose remains were found near Rensselaer Indiana in October of 1983. Lewis was thought to have been a victim of serial killer Larry Eyler, who confessed to his attorney in 1994, referring to Lewis as “the Jasper County John Doe”. Lewis’ remains were found about a year after he’d been killed. A forensics company from Massachusetts identified Lewis’ remains.
