A pair of crashes just over 12 hours apart on I-57 sent several people to area hospitals. Illinois State Police reports say the first crash happened just before six Sunday evening when a car traveling southbound on the Interstate near the 312 exit, hit another car in the rear and continued on without stopping. The car that got rear-ended was then hit by two more cars. Reports say several people were taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in that crash.
The second crash happened just before 7:30 this morning when a car that was southbound on I-57 near the 312 exit when the driver of a car reportedly lost control and hit a concrete barrier. The driver of that car was also taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.
