City Gets HUD Housing Grant

Congresswoman Robin Kelly this week announced that the City of Kankakee has been awarded a 1.4 million dollar grant to improve housing.  The funding is through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Healthy Homes Production Grant Program.   Kankakee has many homes that were built in the mid-century and city officials say the funding will improve the lives and health of everyone, especially children, by creating safer and healthier homes.
