A Hoopeston man was charged Monday with reckless homicide, criminal recklessness and driving while distracted in connection with the death of a road construction worker last year. The accident happened in August of 2020 on U.S. 41 in Lowell. 63 year old Martin Knip of DeMotte was killed when the truck he was driving spraying tar on the shoulder of the road was struck by a semi and rolled over. 69 year old Clark R. Johnson of Hoopeston suffered minor injuries in the crash. The Post Tribune reports that police later found a porn website on Johnson’s cellphone.
