38th District State Senator Sue Rezin has introduced legislation that would expand the state’s Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP. Rezin says the legislation would ensure more families would have access to the benefit by opening up a second tier of benefits for one-year only
Rezin adds the new tier of LIHEAP will allow a family of four with a yearly income between $55,501, to $110,000 to be eligible for a new home heating relief rebate. The Senator says several things are converging and the middle class is feeling the pinch
Rezin stresses the second tier of LIHEAP recipients would only be for one year and would be paid for from the income brought into the state through the federal ARPA program. Rezin says with bi-partisan support she’s hopeful the legislation will make it out of committee to the Senate floor.
