Traffic stop ends in gun arrest

A traffic stop Saturday afternoon netted Kankakee City Police a gun arrest. According to reports, officers stopped the car driven by 20-year-old Darrell Thrower for failing to stop at a stop sign on East Locust. While talking with Thrower, officers say they could smell the odor of both raw and burnt cannabis coming from the car. A search of the car allegedly turned up a loaded handgun. Thrower was arrested by city police for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
