Kankakee Unemployment numbers fall in March

Unemployment continued its fall in Kankakee County in March.  The Illinois Department of Employment Security puts the number at 6 percent.  That’s down from last month’s 6.5 percent and way off the 7.7 percent from a year ago.  Bloomington has the lowest jobless rate in the state at 3.7 percent, Rockford has the highest at 8.5 percent.  Over the last year IDES say the Kankakee area created 42,400 jobs.
