County Health Department tests for West Nile

The Kankakee County Health Department has begun the yearly process of collecting dead birds in an effort to track the spread of West Nile Virus. County Health Department Sanitarian Allan Hatia explains

Hatia says if you come across one of these birds you should contact the Health Department and they’ll come collect it. Hayshuh adds there are ways to lessen your chance of getting West Nile

The Health Department will be collecting birds until October 15th. If you have a question about the program you can call the Health Department for more information.
