Gas prices reach record highs

The average cost for a gallon of gas is the highest it’s ever been in the State of Illinois. Triple A says gas prices average 4.69 a gallon, the highest average for the State and up a dime since yesterday. The average cost for a gallon of diesel is also the highest ever at 5.26 a gallon. Kankakee County isn’t far behind. Prices jumped 15 cents overnight to four-dollars-65 cents a gallon on average, also an all-time high. The cost for a gallon of diesel in Kankakee County is 5.21. A year ago we were paying 3.18 a gallon for gasoline and diesel was 3.11.
