Kankakee City Police make arrest in June shooting

Kankakee City Police report an arrest in an incident where shots were fired in the one-thousand block of South Washington Avenue. It happened June 23rd when reports came in about a man shooting at a car traveling in the alley behind 1085 South Washington Avenue. When they got there, officers say they found shell casings, but the shooter had left the area. Later that day another shooting took place where a car traveled down the alley and someone inside shot at a man in the alley. City Police say their investigation led them to the arrest of 25-year-old Cristian Garza Tuesday. Garza was allegedly running down the alley shooting in the first incident. He was taken to the Jerome Combs Detention Center, charged with Reckless Discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
