Kankakee man arrested for allegedly shooting wife

Kankakee City Police report an arrest after a man allegedly shot his wife last night. According to reports, officers were called to the 400 block of Country Club Drive just before 10 last night  for a report of shots fired. When they got there, officers were flagged down by a neighbor and found a woman who allegedly told officers her husband had shot her. When officers went to the home they reportedly found 45-year-old Arthur Hopewell sitting on the porch with a black revolver next to him. Hopewelll was taken in for questioning and later arrested by City Police for Attempted Murder and Aggravated Battery with a firearm. Hopewell’s wife was taken to the hospital to be treated for her injuries.
