Kankakee teen hit by gunfire

Kankakee City Police are investigating after a 17-year-old Kankakee High School students showed up at the hospital Wednesday afternoon with a gunshot wound. In a Facebook post City Police say they were called to the hospital just before three yesterday afternoon and found the victim who, in the post, police said was in a car with two other teenagers in the Kankakee High School parking lot when a firearm discharged, striking the victim. The driver of the car took the victim to the hospital for treatment. Thursday evening Kankakee School District 111 posted on their Facebook page it had been determined the car was traveling eastbound on Jeffery when the gun went off and not in the parking lot at the High School. City Police ask anyone with information about the shooting call their office.
