Chebanse man arrested for Scott’s Law violation

A 24-year-old Chebanse man was arrested by State Police over the weekend for an alleged Scott’s Law Violation. According to reports, about 2:30 Saturday morning, a State Trooper was stopped helping with a two-car-crash at Route 45 and 5152 South Road in Kankakee County. While out of the squad car helping the accident victims, reports say the State Police Cruiser was allegedly hit from behind by an SUV driven by Austin M. Gray of Chebanse. Both the trooper and one of the drivers in the original crash had to be taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Gray was arrested for DUI along with the violation of Scott’s Law which imposes fines for anyone that doesn’t slow down and pull over when they see an emergency vehicle on the side of the road.
