Unemployment Down Again in Kankakee

The unemployment rate is down again in Kankakee County.  The Illinois Department of Employment Security puts the number for July 5.3 percent.  That’s off from 6.3 percent in July of 2021.  The highest jobless rate in the state is shared by Decatur and Rockford at 6.5 percent.  The lowest is in the Quad Cities at 3.8 percent.  The Kankakee area added some 800 jobs over the last year.
