Deckhand’s Body Found in Channahon Area

The body of a deckhand who fell off a barge and into the Des Plaines River on Monday night in the Channahon area was recovered Tuesday morning.  The 50 year old man has not yet been identified, pending notification of next of kin.  First responders deployed Drones, Jet Skis, boats and a helicopter in searching a seven mile stretch of the river from I-55 to the Dresden Dam and Lock.   The victim’s body was found Tuesday morning on the shoreline at river mile marker 276.
