Sex assault suspect caught

The man wanted in Iroquois County on charges of an alleged sexual assault on an Amtrak train has been captured. Few details are available, but in a Facebook post the Iroquois County Sheriff’s Department says Joel Smith, who’s from Michigan, has been captured and charged with criminal sexual assault. Smith is being held in the Iroquois County Jail on two-million-dollars bond. Iroquois County Police were called to the Amtrak station in Gilman Wednesday and learned that a girl on the train said she’d been sexually assaulted by another passenger on the train, who was later identified as Smith.
