Weekend fatal crash in Kankakee county

Illinois State Police report a crash on Route 17 in far eastern Kankakee County over the weekend, took the life of a 35-year-old Cedar Lake man. State Police say the accident happened about 9:30 Friday night when the car driven by John E. Niles of Cedar Lake failed to stop as he pulled from 16-thousand East road and struck the empty tank trailer being pulled by a semi-driver from Green Bay. Niles was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The other driver was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
