Kankakee County Zoning Board approves 1600 acre solar farm

A proposed 1600 acre solar farm to be situated in Essex and Salina Townships is moving forward after the Kankakee County Zoning Board gave its unanimous approval to a special use permit.  The 300 megawatt farm still needs the Approval County’s Planning and Zoning Committee and the full county board.  If approved, construction would begin next year and would be up and generating power in 2024.  The Daily Journal reports it is estimated to be a 400 to 500 million dollar investment in the county.
