Will County Coroner Laurie Summers says an ID has been made on a set of remains found in Will County nearly 50 years ago. In a press release, Summers says the skeletal remains were discovered by hunters near a creek bed near the intersection of I-55 and Route Six on November 9th 1974. Summers says work by the Cold Case Division of the Will County Coroner’s Office partnering with a Texas DNA firm led to identifying the remains as that of Donald M. Rozek of Harvey who, family members say, disappeared sometime in 1971 or ’72 and was never heard from again. While Rozek’s cause of death is unknown, Summers says her office and the Will County Sheriff’s Cold Case investigators will continue to work on the case.
