Wrongful death lawsuit filed against former Crest hill police officer

A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against former Crest hill police officer Phil Flores by the family of his former girlfriend Samantha Harer of Channahon.  Samantha died from a single gunshot to the head in 2018 in what was official ruled a suicide, but the family always contended that Flores was somehow responsible.  The civil suit alleges that even though Flores claimed at the time he was not in the room when she killed herself, blood splatter was found on his shirt, his DNA was found on the gun and gunpowder residue was found on his hands but nowhere on Samantha’s body.  The lawsuit also contends that neighbors heard an argument coming from the apartment shortly before the fatal shot was fired.
