Unemployment down last month

The unemployment rate in Kankakee fell last month compared to a year ago.  The Illinois Department of Employment Security pegs the number at 5.1 percent.  That’s off from the 5.7 percent of September of 2021.  The lowest jobless rate in the state is in the quad cities at 3.4 percent.  The highest can be found in Rockford with 5.9 percent.
