Mother Pleads Guilty to Murder or 14 month old Child.

27 year old Keyona Deckert has accepted a plea deal with the Kankakee County state’s attorney’s office in the 2018 death of her 14 month old son. Deckert and her 38 year old boyfriend, Dean Williams of Kankakee, were staying at an area hotel when they found the child unresponsive the day after she  dropped the boy during an argument with Williams.  Deckert tells prosecutors the child hit his head on the floor or a wall and was then forcefully slapped multiple times in the head by Williams when he wouldn’t stop crying. According to the Daily Journal, Keon Deckert was pronounced dead at the hospital.  Keyona Deckert will plead guilty to first degree murder charges and could get up to 30 year in prison.  Williams is also charged with first degree murder.  His trial is scheduled for early next year.   Deckert tells authorities that while the two were being taken to the county lockup Williams threatened her with bodily harm if she told investigators what happened.
