City Vehicle Sticker Tax One Vote from Going Away

Dec 14, 2022 | 4:57 PM
The City of Kankakee has an early Christmas present for anyone who owns a vehicle in Kankakee, the elimination of the city’s vehicle sticker tax.  At this week’s city Budget Committee meeting alderman voted unanimously to repeal the tax and end the program at the end of June 2023.   Kankakee Mayor Chris Curtis says the city is now in a good financial place and can afford it.

City officials say don’t remove the current sticker until after the program ends next June.  The measure still needs the approval of the full city council.  That’s expected early next year.
