Route 17 crash injures one

A traffic crash in the western part of Kankakee County Monday afternoon sent one person to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Illinois State Police report it happened about three yesterday afternoon when a semi was traveling eastbound on Route 17 near Bonfield and slowed to turn onto 7000 West Road. Troopers say the semi was hit from behind by a passenger car. The driver of that car was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver’s condition is unknown at this time. Route 17 had to be shut down for several hours while State Police investigated the crash and the wreckage was cleared.
