Unemployment in Kankakee Fell in December

Unemployment in Kankakee fell in December.  The Illinois Department of Employment Security puts the number at 5.1 percent.  That’s down from November’s 5.3 percent and off from the 5.4 percent of December 2021.  Even so the Kankakee area is tied with Decator for the second highest jobless rate in the state.  Only Rockford has a higher number at 5.4 percent. The lowest unemployment rate in Illinois is in Bloomington at 3.1 percent.
