Herscher Community Unit School District 2 going solar

Herscher Community Unit School District 2 is going solar.  In conjunction with the purchase of 25 new electric school buses,  The district has now decided to lease some 25 to 30 acres of land it owns for solar farms.  When on the grid the district will receive electricity at a discounted rate.  The Daily Journal reports solar panels will begin to go up next spring.
