One dead in Kankakee shooting

Kankakee City Police are investigating a shooting that happened early Sunday morning that killed a man. According to reports, it was just after 3:30 Sunday morning when officers were called to the 700 block of North Greenwood Avenue for a report of shots fired. When they got there, officers say they found a gunshot victim lying in the grass behind an apartment building. The Kankakee County Coroner’s office identifies the victim as 35-year-old William D. Campbell the third of Kankakee. Campbell was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting. An autopsy showed Campbell died from multiple gunshot wounds. Kankakee City Police and the Coroner’s office continue to investigate the shooting.
