Unemployment Up in Kankakee Again

Unemployment continues to climb in Kankakee County.  The Illinois Department of Employment Security puts the number for August at 6.8 percent.  That’s up from July’s 6.1 percent.  A year ago, the jobless rate in the Kankakee area was 5.3 percent.  The state says Kankakee County has lost 200 jobs in the past year. The lowest unemployment rate can be found in the Quad Cities, the highest is in Rockford at 7.4 percent.
