There were several observances held over the weekend to commemorate Veteran’s Day. One of those happened on the south side of Kankakee at the AN Webber trucking company where a six foot tall bronze statue was unveiled commemorating World War Two Navy veteran Ray Ollie and his K9 friend Elinor. Jojo Sayson has headed up the “Ray Ollie Memorial Project” and said it was two-years in the making
The ceremony was highlighted with a flyover by a pair of World War Two T-6 Airplanes along with several military vehicles for people to see. Some 300 people attended Saturday’s event.
