Kankakee City Police arrests suspected robber

Kankakee City Police say a man was taken to the hospital Monday night after he was injured during the robbery at a liquor store. According to reports, it was just after 11 last night when a man walked into the liquor store in the 300 block of South Schuyler Avenue, picked up two bottles of vodka and took them to the check-out. When the victim went to check the man out, he reportedly threw a chunk of concrete through the cashier divider and hit the victim in the forehead, before taking off with the liquor. A couple of hours later, city police stopped an SUV  for running a stop sign at Hickory and Rosewood. The back seat passenger in the SUV, later identified as 26-year-old Ryan D. Hopkins matched the description of the suspect from the earlier robbery. Reports say a bottle of vodka, matching the brand taken in the robbery was also found in the car. Hopkins was arrested by City Police for Aggravated Battery and Armed Robbery along with other charges
