A chase on I-55 yesterday afternoon ended near Gardner when the offending vehicle drover over police deployed stop sticks. The Grundy County Sheriff’s Police say it started on the Northbound side of I-55 near Dwight and ended shortly thereafter just north of Gardner. It’s reported the offending car went into the ditch where the driver got out of the car and took off. An extensive search in the area of I-55 and Carbon Hill Road failed to turn up the suspect and the search was called off at about seven last night. Grundy County Deputies describe the alleged offender as a bald, white man, wearing black jeans and a tan or green colored shirts. He was also thought to be carrying a bag. Grundy County Sheriff’s Police ask you call them if you see someone in that area matching the description.
